Your Body in Balance Programs

"Your Body in Balance" is a healthy living series in conjunction with the Franklin Health Department, the Friends and Wheaton Franciscan. The next programs are: August 8, 2007 6:30pm “The Right Nutrition Choices” followed by September 12, 2007 6:30pm “Motivate to Activate” 6:30pm. Adult Summer Reading Challenge

It is not too late to start the Adult Summer Reading Challenge, pickup an Adult Summer Reading Challenge Form at the Information Desk. Read one book from any of these categories: General Nonfiction, Biography, Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror, Mystery, General Fiction or Free Choice. When finished bring in your sheet (after you have read your first book) and receive a prize packet. For each additional book that you read from each category, you will receive an entry for a prize drawing from various areas businesses (Showtime Cinema, People’s Choice Car Wash, Casa Di Giorgio, Sentry and Hanley’s Restaurant). The more books you read the more entries you receive. The challenge ends August 31, 2007. It is sponsored by the Friends of Franklin Public Library

Milwaukee's Silver Screens

Monday, July 23rd at 7 pm Milwaukee's Silver Screens Join Larry Widen, Milwaukee author and historian, for a look back at the history of the Milwaukee area movie theaters. Larry is the co-author of Silver Screens: a Pictorial History of Milwaukee's Movie Theaters and the owner of the Times Cinema. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing. The program is free however registration is required please call the library at 425-8214 to register.

 

Interfaith Art Show—“Exposure Art Exhibit”

The Franklin Public Library again in conjunction with Interfaith Older Adult Programs will host the “Exposure Art Exhibit.” The library will host for the month of August. “Exposure” is a juried, traveling exhibit that starts in May and travels to a new location each month until the end of April of the following year. Artists must be 55 years of age when the art was created, and the artist must reside in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Waukesha, Washington or Racine County. The artists use a variety of mediums with the most common being acrylics and watercolors. The art varies from still life, to portraits, to outdoor scenes, landscapes and nature. You must stop by and see what these artists have created!
