Best Selling Author Robert Kurson to Appear at Library

By Franklin Library
Wednesday, Apr 30 2008, 04:01 PM

The Brown Baggers Bookclub in conjunction with the Friends of the Franklin Public Library are sponsoring his appearance.  Robert Kurson is the author of both ShadowDivers and Crashing Through.

In Shadow Divers, Kurson vividly recounts the story of John Chatterton and Richie Kohler, two deep-wreck scuba divers who risk everything—friendships, marriages, physical health, even their sanity and their lives—to solve a great historical mystery. They would end up making history themselves.  In 1991, the two men found an unidentified WWII U-boat, with human remains inside. No historian or government had a clue as to whose U-boat it was. Over the next six years, Chatterton and Kohler, along with an elite team of divers, embarked on a dangerous quest to solve the mystery of the U-Boat's identity.

In his latest book, Crashing Through, which debuted on The New York Times bestseller list, Kurson tells the story of Mike May, a champion skier and ex-CIA agent who was blinded at the age of three, but who has an opportunity in his 40s to undergo surgery that will restore his vision. Kurson, once again wringing a suspenseful narrative from real life events, gives us enormous insight into the mysteries of vision, the brain, and the human spirit.

Robert Kurson will speak and do a book signing at the Franklin Public Library:

SUNDAY May 18th at 1:30pm.
