The Franklin-based group, “Citizens for a Safe Wisconsin” is holding its first annual fundraiser later this month.

The group has worked with great passion and diligence to make communities all across Wisconsin safe from sex offenders.

I hope you will attend what is sure to be an outstanding event for a wonderful cause.

I’m honored the group asked me some time ago to be the Master of Ceremonies for the fundraiser. Here are more details:

I'm in!  I'm looking forward to the party and hope that the event is a huge success.  Everyone who values the safety of their children ought to line up for tickets.  This group is tirelessly working for families across the state and has been hugely successful and they fund all of their activities out of their own pockets.

Now's the time for the community to step up and support a group that has worked so hard for them.

And here's a challenge to Fred, Janet, Greg and John to see who can generate the most interest in the event on their blogs.  There can be no argument that this is the right thing to support.

Thank you Steve and I agree.

I call on all bloggers in SE Wisconsin who value the safety and welfare of our most precious commodity, our children, to promote this event.

And why am I not shocked that CFSW is based out of Franklin?  This is a perfect example of a group of upper middle class and upper class folks who are worried about property values.

Sorry if I'm cynical, but what do folks who cry "Not in my backyard" propose be done to house sex offenders?  I'm sure these same folks who are up in arms wouldn't be so up in arms if sex offender housing was being proposed in Milwaukee.

I don't think you can fault where an organization is based out of, can you?

An issue happened here and concerned citizens went into action.

Just like, hopefully, Milwaukee citizens would go into action.  And we have seen how well they can go into action because they did so regarding their school taxes.

I want to see a judge place a sex offender in a home near his/hers.  That's where.  And while I am not a "member" of CFSW but am willing to volunteer at their fundraiser, I am doing so knowing the money they raise is for fighting to protect children, all over Wisconsin.

I can see how Mr. Zippy might make the assumptions that he does. I do believe however, that many other communities and neighborhood groups banned together to protest at the time a predator facility was proposed near where they live.  The difference is that a few residents of Franklin held together and continued to work with the legislature to find solutions for the housing issue that keep the safety of children a priority in every part of the state. This group wants the predators housed together in "no-body's backyard".  Nowhere.  Nohow.

That work is not easy and their is much to be done. The work continues to be funded out of the pockets of a few people who are not wealthy but who are committed to finding an equitable solution.  Nothing will ever completely remove the threat of a sex predator who is fully intent on re-offending.  However, there are a number of monitoring and management techniques that can be (an have been) implemented with great success in reducing the rates of recidivism.

The people of CFSW have no political agenda other than working to keep children safe -- through both legislative change and public education.  This group is largely responsible for the state enacting minimum sentencing laws, improving the state's on-line sex offender registry, and utilizing state-of-the-art active GPS monitoring of the most violent predators who at the highest risk to re-offend.

If Mr. Zippy would like more information about their mission and goals, I urge him to contact the folks at CFSW at kidssafewisconsin@yahoo.com

That is very small of you MrZippy, this is a group that has been fighting against sexual predators in the entire state. But of course, you don't care about that, it seems pretty clear that is is Kevin that you mean to attack. If this group was based on 4th & Cherry you would say the same thing if you thought you could take a cheep shot at a conservative.

Kevin,

You have every right to defend yourself.

And you should do so relentlessly.

Mr Zippy,

I thought the left was always so concerned "about the children".

I guess unless someone you disagree with is supporting the fundraiser.

That's kind of a bit odd... don't you agree? After all it is about keeping kids safe.

Sorry for the spelling errors in my last post!!  Too much snow brain at our house today.

Heh...nice to see Mr. Fischer's removing posts.  As I said in a post that Kevin seems to have removed, I don't support sex offenders; in fact, much of the work I've done in my career has been to protect the community from sex offenders and other criminals.

I'll admit, perhaps I jumped the gun a bit based on my own assumptions about CFSW, and I'm man enough to admit I was wrong and apologize.

Badger Blogger has "Mr. Zippy's" number.  This baseless attack on Fischer and now CFSW, is politically motived.

MrZippy and all others interested,

CFSW is always looking for people to help. Especially in areas of the state away from Franklin and the SE corner of the state. If you want to help CFSW with an active role, contact them at the following email address - kidssafewisconsin@yahoo.com. If you can't do and active roll, then at least email them to get on the emailing list.

Also, they have managed to get some laws passed that helps everyone in the state. The best to date is the required GPS tracking of sex predators once they are released. However, that has been like a soap opera trying to keep this a reality. See the following blog posts for the story.

Bottom line is they need all the help they can get.

Thank you for the apology Mr. Zippy.  It is accepted and appreciated.

As pasta2000 suggests --  help is always needed!
