The fact that I'm an Elvis fan is well-documented.

I have NEVER....

EVER....

watched Dancing With the Stars...

until tonight.

I have a keen interest in tonight's show.

The lovely and classy Priscilla Presley dances.

Remember, Priscilla is 62 years old.

Good luck, Cilla!

UPDATE

If you missed the show, here is Presley's dance:

Loved the dance, the dress, the color...

I've been meaning to do a blog on plastic surgery...

Kevin Fischer

My God, she was amazing.

Sure, she's had plastic surgery.

Why not.

She's worth it.

March 18, 2008 9:10 PM

Janet Evans

No, she's had plaaaasssssttttiiiiccccc surgery (and I have nothing against cosmetic surgery).

That's O.K., Kevin, her old face was in her head, somewhere....

(sorry)

March 18, 2008 9:17 PM

Kevin Fischer

She's always looked good......always.

Besides, what is she supposed to do with all that cash....buy another car?

March 18, 2008 9:21 PM

Janet Evans

Well, O.K.  You have a point.

I just hope next time she still has a nose.

Say what you want, but 62 -year old Priscilla Presley and deaf Marlee Matlin were inspiratonal.

Priscilla said it best: She hopes that others will take risks.

We live in a society where many people, including those in our medical profession, look at people with disabilities and want to ease their way out of life comfortably instead of encouraging them and promoting life.

I might be stretching it a bit after a watching a program on ballroom dancing, but I couldn't help but think of that tonight. We should celebrate and support people with disabilities, not shun them or turn away.

March 18, 2008 10:03 PM

Janet Evans

I've been watching Dancing with the Stars since the beginning.

I agree about the disabilities and Marlee ....And, Heather Mills danced with one leg last season!

What disability does Priscilla have?  People said the same about Wayne Newton last season..too much plastic surgery.

Kevin Fischer

Janet, I'm really surprised you have totally missed the point.

So Priscilla Presley should be dismissed because she has two legs, can hear and has had a facelift?

Maybe we should dismiss the Tony Award winner who danced tonight because she was too short and stocky.

Can't you give the woman credit for going out and performing nearly flawlessy in front of 20 million people.

Oh, wait.

She's been to a surgeon.

That's really petty.

My friend, and she is my friend, Janet Evans seems to have a bug up her butt about Priscilla Presley's trip(s) to the plastic surgeon.

I would love to have my friend Janet explain to all of us on the blogosphere how Presley's surgeries helped her tonight move her legs, twirl her body, make all those moves, and still impress judges, a studio audience, and millions of TV viewers.

I can't wait to hear that answer.

In the meantime, Janet is my guest, when she turns 62, to visit my home. We will move all the furniture, and she can do her best cha-cha, tango, rhumba, whatever.

What do you say, Janet?

Pricilla did pretty darn good, I expected her to be really stiff.  As far as the plastic surgery, yeah she has had a lot of work done, and in my opinion it makes her look a little bit odd, I wish she would have just left herself alone, she was always so pretty.  But, it is her choice, she had the work done, that's that.  It has nothing to do with her dancing.  For 62, she was impressive.

Now the real story of the night was Marlee Matlin.  WOW!  I did something last night that I recommend you try next week.  When she comes on to dance, press the mute button for a minute.  That is what it is like for her, no music, no beat, no clapping or crowd noise.  I was amazed.  Wow.

Kevin Fischer

Karen, Matlin was incredible.

You are absolutely right. How she could pull that off without hearing a sound is amazing.

Still no response from Janet. Maybe she's spending some time here:

Kevin,

Sorry it took so long to reply…I’ve been at the medical facility having a colonoscopy…they couldn’t find that bug you were speaking of, so if it pops up once in a while, I apologize!  Since everything was A-okay, I don’t have to go back for another for 10 yrs though.  Maybe I’ll give a description of the procedure sometime, like I did that time of my mammogram on my blog.  I was awake during my procedure so I was able to watch it on the little T.V. screen….Oh, wait…Katie Couric already did that!  Darn.

But back to lovely Priscilla.  If you look at my very first comment, I said I loved  the dance.  She was great.  And I said I have nothing against cosmetic surgery in a comment that followed.  I just think she is a beautiful woman and maybe she should have let herself age gracefully, with a few small procedures.  You have to be honest here…the only part of her face that has movement left is her mouth.  But, she can do what she wants.  I was just saying I thought she did too much.  And if I had the money I can think of several small procedures I would do myself…in a minute!

What does any of this have to do with her abilities to dance, twirl, spin, move her legs, impress the judges?  I didn’t imply it had anything to do with it.  And it doesn’t.  She was great.

After I have as many hours of lessons as Priscilla was given…and I am 62…I will be over to your house to do, let’s see….hmmm… I’ve got arthritis now, so….I’m thinking, and counting the years….I’m thinking… the Tango, because I like that little “kick” the women get to do….yeah....that’s it…the Tango.  I should be ready for my next colonoscopy by then too!  Can’t wait!

Your friend,

Janet

Janet, I'm so glad you're okay.

And I'm not surprised you want to tango in my living room.

About Priscilla, give her even more credit. She didn't do this:
