How about a Fountains of Franklin update?

The most magnanimous economic development project in the history of SE Wisconsin!…….ummmm, Milwaukee County!……….uhhh, Franklin!……..hmmm, Rawson Avenue!……………..The Fountains of Franklin, after months and months and months and months and months and months of……..some activity have exuberantly announced that the site will have:

1) A DQ Chill and Grill. Or is it a DQ Grill and Chill? Anyway, cue the studio audience;

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh!

2) An Azana Spa and Salon.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Yeh, yeh, yeh, super, that’s all fine and swell.

Now, is it too much to ask when the groundbreaking will actually be for these, AHEM, projects that all of Franklin is on pins and needles anxiously awaiting?

Or do we have to wait months and months and months and months for that, too?

And if you’re keeping score at home, fans:

# of upscale dining venues at FOF: ZERO

# of upscale shopping venues at FOF: ZERO

UPDATE ON 6/1 @ 10:00 PM:

Let's not forget CVS Pharmacy, Serenity Tan and Snap Fitness. Are they going to open, and if so, on schedule?

Late last month, Greg Kowalski reported that discussion at a Common Council meeting was that the development was not headed in an upscale direction and certain permits were denied. So again, what in the world is going on there, if anything, and how long will it be before something substantial starts operating?

I thought that the DQ Chill was denied at one of the city meetings awhile back?

Everything that's going on around that whole area seems to be a mystery.

Announcements are made about tenants and when construction is supposed to begin and then nothing happens.

They're hanging their hats on Sendik's, but WHAT is specifically happening at 56th AND RAWSON?

Chirping crickets and tumbleweeds. If there's progress, why aren't they trumpeting it?

I definitely agree that the whole thing is mysterious. No news has come out in months. I'll hope for the best but know not to get my hopes up either
