Disgraceful: Catholics voting for Obama

On Tuesday, many Catholics will cast their ballots for Barack Obama. That is shameful, disgusting.

I’ve blogged previously about my outrage over Catholics rejecting their faith to vote for the biggest baby-killer to ever run for the White House, a candidate with no regard for the value of human life.

Catholic Answers Action has produced the Voter’s Guide for Serious Catholics. Inside the guide you’ll find the, “The Five Non-Negotiable Issues.”

The guide says:

“These five issues concern actions that are intrinsically evil and must never be promoted by the law. Intrinsically evil actions are those that fundamentally conflict with the mortal law and can never be performed under any circumstances. It is a serious sin to deliberately endorse or promote any of these actions, and no candidate who really wants to advance the common good will support any action contrary to the non-negotiable principles involved in these issues.

1) Abortion

2) Euthanasia

3) Embryonic Stem Cell Research

4) Human Cloning

5) Homosexual Marriage”

Note that capital punishment, that I have clearly advocated on my blog, on television and radio is not on the list. The guide says some issues are not non-negotiable and that includes the death penalty. Quoting Pope Benedict XVI when he was Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger:

“Not all moral issues have the same weight as abortion and euthanasia. For example, if a Catholic were to be at odds with the Holy Father on the application of capital punishment or on the decision to wage war, he would not for that reason be considered unworthy to present himself to receive Holy Communion. While the Church exhorts civil authorities to seek peace, not war, and to exercise discretion and mercy in imposing punishment on criminals, it may still be permissible to take up arms to repel an aggressor or to have recourse to capital punishment. There may be a legitimate diversity of opinion even among Catholics about waging war and applying the death penalty, but not however with regard to abortion and euthanasia.”

Even before reading that, I had NO problem as a Catholic reconciling my opposition to abortion along with my strong support for the death penalty.

Meanwhile, you Catholics that are voting for Obama:

SHAME ON YOU!

Here’s the entire VOTER’S GUIDE FOR SERIOUS CATHOLICS.

The teachings of the Catholic Church on capital punishment are clear.  If "Catholic Answers Action" convieniently frames your opinion to the contrary, by all means:

'If bloodless means are sufficient to defend human lives against an aggressor and to protect public order and the safety of persons, public authority must limit itself to such means, because they better correspond to the concrete conditions of the common good and are more in conformity to the dignity of the human person.'"

Josh, if you are so troubled and  just can't come to grips with distinguishing between the innocent life of the unborn and the life of a vicious, vile, serial killer, I suggest you retreat from my blog and vacuum your conscience at the man of the cloth of your choice.

Josh, enjoy voting for the baby-killer, Obama Tuesday, and sleep well. We know from previous comments that you care more about teens having sex, then getting pregnant than you do about the unborn. Obama's the perfect choice for you, Josh. If your guy wins, celebrate all those dead unborn babies thanks to the Messiah.

My opinion is consistant with the teachings of the Catholic Church on these issues.  My stance has been, and always will be, to value human life at either end of the spectrum.  Abortion and capital punishment, in my opinion, is morally wrong.  I don't believe that we have any right to decide who lives or who dies.  You have a right, as a Catholic and as an American, to disagree with the Church too, Kevin.  As I've said many times, no one has the right to tell me or anyone else what religious beliefs to uphold.  Oftentimes, the people who do are the most morally conflicted.

I would never begin to counsel anyone about religion. I will say that Catholics who vote for Obama ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Curious .. any thoughts after the exit polls showed a slim majority (54%) of Catholics "rejected their faith" and voted for Obama?   What does the high number mean?    Is over half the church CINOS, or is there another explanation?
