I’ve never understood the crowd that supports abortion but is adamantly opposed to capital punishment. It’s the same bunch that likes to toss condoms around like candy in our schools, and then when kids get pregnant are relieved that the quick abortion fix is available.

An unborn child has hurt no one. A convicted serial murderer has shown an utter disregard for human life, and has broken God’s law and man’s law. One deserves to live, the other does not. If that makes me a bad Catholic or not as Catholic as the next guy in church, so be it.

Of course, SOME writers think that there is only one player on a football team. Others count 22, half of which are supposed to play "Defense," which allegedly keeps the other team from scoring a lot.

As I said before, "that's fine if that's your opinion." No one questions your faith. There is no reason for an apology.

I believe you were the one who wrote that pro-choice Catholics should, "not only be deeply ashamed, but never possess the courage to walk into a Catholic church ever again."

I believe that is questioning someone's faith.

You state that you are able to "reconcile" your opinions regarding the death penalty. This goes against the teachings of the Catholic church, as does abortion advocates. Are pro-choice advocates given the same option of reconciling their opinions?

So let's talk about it.

You seem to want to "lecture" pro-choice advocates about consistency within the Catholic church so let's talk about it.

According to the story, officials complained that the streakers were visible "...from a nearby park."

Frankly, were I to emerge nekkid from a cold New England lake, I doubt anything on me would be visible "...from a nearby park." A person of that endowment is wasting their talents winning free sandwiches. Their future is either as an adult film star or political page, and I'll admit, the two career paths are not mutually exclusive.

There are, I suppose, worse menu items for restaurants to devise risque contests around. The area is renowned for its seafood. What might one have to do to come home with a big red snapper? And might you end up with crabs, instead?

Then there's the question of what one of Maine's Mexican restaurants might have you do for a Bangor Taco.

I'll stop now. I'm at risk of offending myself...

I ended up at the Badger game last night thanks to a Saturday class that I couldn't leave earlier enough to make the Brewer game. Boy did I make the wrong choice.

This weekend was probably one of the hardest ones I can remember in a while for fans of Wisconsin's sports teams!

And no, I don't question my Catholic faith, even though you do.

It's kind of like how you come on my blog and tell me you're going to vote for McCain, but trash the ticket every chance you get.

That's fine if that's your opinion.

But, again, the basic theme of your blog is consistancy between personal beliefs and faith.

So Kevin Fischer can "reconcile" his opinions, which run contrary to the teachings of the Catholic Church but pro-choice supporters should, "not only be deeply ashamed, but should never possess the courage to walk into a Catholic church ever again."

Is that what being a good Catholic is all about? Casting out those who struggle with personal values and beliefs with those of their faith?

Actually, you raise a legitimate question. But this is easy, at least for me. How do I reconcile my opinions on capital punishment vs. abortion?

I have no problem with the execution of a sadistic, evil, killer. None.

I do have a problem with taking an innocent life.

In my view, they're two completely different situations.

You question Obama supporter's faith because they are pro-choice yet you fully support the execution of prisoners, convicted of a violent crime. The Catholic Church makes no differentiation between the murder of unborn children and the murder of the condemned. The Republican Party is pro-capital punishment. Will you denounce Republicans for voting GOP because they go against the principles of Catholic teachings?

Will a liberal Catholic be chastised as a hypocrite because he or she believes in contraception too? Should he or she be forced to leave the faith?

How about Catholics who believe that America should use war as a means to achieve peace? Should they be shamed and cast out of the Church too?

The theme of your blog is consistancy between personal beliefs and faith but you, yourself, have conflicting opinions with the Catholic Church. Does that make you any less Catholic than the other guy? Not to me.

I don't question your faith. I'm just making an observation.

They should have conducted the investigation while letting the band play. There's always time to punish individuals. Ultimately, Leckrone and his staff hold the most responsibility. There were allegations in the past so the leadership should make sure the band is above reproach. Yet, they suspend everyone. Is Leckrone still getting paid? If the band is suspended why not suspend the management?

States will spend millions for passing the AWA which is "doing more harm than good."

Legislators need to consult the EXPERTS rather than pass knee jerk legislation that actually endangers children and the whole of society. I encourage everyone to write their law makers demanding they stop endangering children with knee jerk legislation and BRING IN THE EXPERTS.

"Maine is one of the few states that is going about this correctly. They are "LISTENING TO EXPERTS, rather than passing emotional knee jerk legislation which protects no one but endangers everyone. The vast majority of states have passed laws that "Do more harm than good."

Protecting children and society must be done "intelligently."

I'd have to concur with your observation from 9/2 [blogs.franklinnow.com/.../there-are-no-heroes-in-franklin-development-mess.aspx] that there are no heroes in this debacle, but there are undeniably victims, and not just the Fox family.

We're all threatened by the prospect that we'll be railroaded into altering, selling, or outright forfeiting our land if enough of our neighbors are cajoled into picking up pitchforks and marching in opposition TO us every time one of these attacks on our sovereignty succeeds.

Lost in my rant against Hintzman, or perhaps only subtly evident, was my perverse admiration of those of his ilk, who are able to rally otherwise peaceful villagers (especially the anti-progress, sandal-wearing, Nader-voting, bongo-beating contingent) into believing that Leonard Fox is the Frankenstein standing in the way of their "planned" (read: "imagined") utopia.

Even more remarkable is that some of the most vociferous anti-sprawlers [tinyurl.com/HintzmansMinion] have been duped into supporting a capitalistic developer[!] by putting down their bongs and lighting symbolic torches instead, joining the angry mob in an impassioned attempt to run the perceived threat out of town.

Evident from the (Constitutionally-aware) sideline is this:

It takes quite a while to earn a loyal customer and seconds to lose them. Those employees were begging you to never come back. Give them what they're asking for.

Also, I'm more likely to share a bad experience with others. I'm guessing most people are likely to tell friends about a problem, but never tell management.

Thank goodness for this blog, I can get caught up on all the sports news of the day.

Huh? The Packers played today? Who knew.

What's that, Rodgers left the game with an injury? Gosh, that's unfortunate. All the while, Brett scored a gazillion points while playing hurt?

The Brewers in the play-offs, Ted Thompson pissing his pants, Brett and the Jets winning big and Jimmie Johnson winning AGAIN and leading the Chase.

All is right in the wide world of sports.
